Designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil were inspired by the leading ladies of Woody Allen's movies for their evening wear collection at the Blender's Pride Fashion Tour. Blacks and whites dominated the colour meter along with accents of scarlet red (since life and Allen's ladies know that all is not black and white). There were ruffles and tiers to add a touch of femininity but satins and silk jerseys were used to create structural details to add strength to the garments. The designs were reminiscent of fifties trends - luxurious and rich fabrics for an opulent look.

The have-nots world over are increasingly
Choosing the path of violence
To address their never ending woes
This is a very worrisome trend
In countries with teeming millions
Caught in the quagmire of poverty

Thanks to the regular oppression
Displacement and dispossession
Of the poorest of the poor
By the rich and privileged classes
Certain segments of the population
Even believe their lives are expendable

They are willing to join forces and
Are prepared to risk their lives through
Armed attacks or suicide bombings
Especially if they can take with them
Their well-heeled tormentors -truly
A case of sweet revenge worth dying for

Can the so-called educated classes
The backbone of most populous countries
Wish away these unfortunate multitudes
As an ugly blot on their social fabric
Not at all they have waited long enough
For basic social justice and they deserve it

Merely holding symposia on subjects
Like financial inclusion and human rights
Will not placate or help the affected people
Both the authorities and society in general
Need to take steps to tackle the disease
Instead of merely focussing on the symptoms

Indian food is an internationally popular cuisine, yet, unfairly, it is often considered to be heavy, rich and indulgent. With more people than ever before turning to healthy home cooking there has never been a better time for a fresh and lighter take on Indian food ? one that Mira is creating with her vibrant and healthy cooking style. Inspired by her mother and grandmother's cooking, Mira Manek's style of food is a modern interpretation of the Indian classics, creating utterly delicious and naturally healthy dishes. Whether you want to cook a Saffron & Lime Chia Pot, an Indian Summer Salad, a Thali, a Masala Almond Milk or a Mango Shrikhand Cheesecake, Saffron Soul combines the best of the core elements of Indian cooking with original health-promoting twists. As well as offering the best and most naturally healthy Gujarati recipes, Mira also recreates some perennial favourites, replacing traditionally used grains and sugar with more nutritious ingredients such as millet, chia and jaggery, and cutting down on oils and fats, to make her dishes even healthier. Whether cooking a filling spicy curry, a soulful brunch, a nutritious light meal or a luscious dessert, Mira's dishes vibrantly burst with colour and a richness of flavour and spice, each fit for a feast.

Jackie O Style The 50th Anniversary of JFK’s assignation was last week and it inspired us to take a look at some of JKO’s best looks. First up we have another princess whom she inspired: Princess Mary. Great use of the pillbox and canary yellow. Next, we have the JKO Cape and the movie star who copied her look and made it her own: Gwyneth clearly is rocking a JKO inspired gown to the Oscars two years ago. And here we see them side by side: Well, you don’t have to be a queen or movie star to sport JKO”s style, look no further than Mod Cloth for an affordably priced JKO inspired look, here we have: Best & Brightest Coat By Pink Martini at ModCloth JKO Black Leather Handbag at Joy Jewelers Brass-Tipped Kitten Heels at Anthropologie Kate Spade Double-strand Faux-pearl Necklace with bows at Neiman Marcus When Jacqueline traveled to Rajasthan, India in the 1960s, her fashion captivated both East and West cultures. And it’s still doing so more than 50 years later. Luxe fans, check out Saloni Lodha’s Autumn 2012 line, which uses Jackie O’s 1960s visit to Rajasthan as fuel for her East-meets-West vibe. Saloni Lodha’s collection channels Jacqueline glamour through bee-hive-inspired up-dos, skinny headbands and classic fabrics such as tweeds and wools. But what we love most is how she captures the vibrancy of Jackie O’s India visit via eclectic colors and funky patterns. The collection starts off with a rich charcoal grey wool coat and grey and fuchsia ombré skirt, which we love for fall and winter. Another of our favorite day looks is Saloni’s oversized tweed sweater, burgundy pants and a chunky heel. It’s one of those outfits that will make any girl look smashing with minimal effort And then there are the dresses. Between the short-sleeve wrap minis with funky Eastern patterns and the elegant floor-length gowns, the collection is all making glamour accessible. It’s hard to pick favorites, but one standout is definitely Saloni’s cobalt blue body-hugging gown. What makes this dress so special is the large Indian-inspired paisley pattern, which absolutely pops in white and mimics the curves of the body in a super flattering way. I also like Saloni’s floor-length coral dresses. BRIAN: Who is your favorite stylish first lady, Braylen? BRAYLEN: Answer BRIAN: That’s all the time we have. Where can people find you? BRAYLEN: Info BRIAN: Out-Tro for Show
