Liam Neeson thriller "Taken 2" captured the No. 1 spot on movie box office charts over the weekend with a brawny 50 million U.S. dollars take from theaters in the United States and Canada.
"Taken 2" stars Neeson as a former CIA agent kidnapped during a vacation in Istanbul. The movie added 55 million from some 50 international markets for a global opening of 117 million including Korea where it opened earlier.
The strong debut for "Taken 2" pushed last weekend's winner, family flick "Hotel Transylvania," to second place. The movie about a hotel run by Dracula earned just over 26 million over the weekend, according to studio estimates compiled by Reuters.
The comedy "Pitch Perfect" snagged the No. 3 slot with 14.7 million. The film about a college all-girls singing group moved up the charts as it expanded nationwide following an impressive limited opening last weekend. The movie stars Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow.
Rounding out the charts, time-travel movie "Looper" earned fourth place with 12 million domestically. Sales for the movie starring Bruce Willis reached 40 million for the two-week run.
Mila Kunis will have to update her resume. The 29-year-old actress was named by "Esquire" magazine as the "Sexiest Woman Alive."

If you are going to make a future fantasy where a guy falls in love with a computer’s synthesised voice it is just as well to secure the services of the world’s sexiest woman to play her. Freshly-crowned by Esquire magazine no less, Scarlett Johansson took Rome by storm to premiere “Her”.
Spike Jonze does not make many feature films, but they are always an event, even if his last, 2009’s “Where the Wild Things Are” did not make anything like its 100 million dollar investment.
If “Her” offers the delectable possibility of always having a Scarlett, or Samantha as the operating system likes to be known, in your pocket, it must be quite confining for the actress.
“It was liberating and challenging at the same time. I mean, of course I didn’t have the kind of confines, of you know, sort of judgment that you can kind of place on yourself…and you really work for years and years to try to free, liberate yourself, you know, of yourself in a sense, and be kind of comfortable in your body, and unaware. But at the same time I was also confined to a little box,” says Johansson.
The film eases through the gears, going from drama to romance to comedy as Samantha’s honeyed words take root in hero Theodore’s soul. Joaquin Phoenix was also distanced from his leading lady, as he only played with her voice.
“Scarlett and I were in the same room together, she was in a sound-proof box with a window, but I could still see her,” says Phoenix.
While Samantha is virtual, Theodore has a real wife, played by Roony Mara, who he’s divorcing. Much of the comedy lies in the entanglement of his relationship with both women.

The 2014 rankings have been trending heavily on social media across India and Pakistan during the voting process, with over 10 million votes cast.
The highest new entry was reality TV star Gauahar Khan at number 5 and the second highest new entry was young actress Preetika Rao (10). Other Indian television actresses who made the list included Nia Sharma (7), Asha Negi (12), Shakti Mohan (13), Surbhi Jyoti (16), Hina Khan (23) and Kritika Kamra (30).
It seems like the rivalry between Kat and PC seems to be only getting thicker. The two who were present on the same stage at Salman's sister Arpiata's wedding, didn't even exchange pleasantries. I wrote this song on New Year’s Eve just before going to Ukraine to meet a woman named Marina. My marriage of twenty years had just ended and I was very confused and lonely. Marina and I left Ukraine and then went to Egypt for a two-week holiday on the Red Sea at Sharm al Sheik. Wild trip. Never spoke to her again after that, but I'm still friends with the Irish guy that put me in second place for "Coolest Dude at the Resort"...
It would be great if Marina could see this video. She was a nice person.

A Georgia woman is lucky to be alive after a first date with a man she met over a social-networking dating site ended with her getting shot in the face and carjacked.
Georgia police are looking for a man who goes by the name of Cash, who officials say shot and robbed a 34-year-old woman he met on an online dating site.
The woman picked up the suspect she met over Badoo.com at a Days Inn motel at 12:49 a.m. Dec. 24, said Maj E.W. Strozier of the College Park Police Department.
The suspect used the name King Luciano on his dating profile, but he told the woman his name was Cash and he was from Tennessee, although police believe he is a local.
The plan was to hit up Waffle House. When they got their, Cash ran in and then back out and told her to park on the side of the restaurant in a dark area. When she said no, he ran back in and came out again saying that the food wasn’t worth $20.
The woman then began to take Cash back to the motel, but on the way he pulled out a gun and shot her in the face. He then drove away in her black 1999 Jeep Cherokee. He also took her phone and purse.
The bullet only grazed the woman’s jaw and she was released from the hospital later that day.
