Police have been unable to solve the case of JonBenét Ramsey’s 1996 murder, but they have looked into a number of possible suspects in the 23 years since.

Episode 4 of “The Killing of JonBenét: The Final Suspects” shares compelling clues that the 6-year-old child beauty queen’s photographer, Randy Simons, may have been involved in her death — something that he has long denied.

“[My wife, Joyce, and I] began talking with pageant mothers in the area who had been in on the child beauty pageant circuit with Patsy and JonBenét, and we heard a couple of things,” says author Stephen Singular, who looked closely at Simons while writing his 1999 book, Presumed Guilty.

“We were told that JonBenét’s primary personal and professional photographer was a man named Randy Simons, and Randy had been shooting her picture for a couple of years,” Singular continues. “All of the beauty pageant mothers that we spoke with said exactly the same thing to us — that since the murder, Randy had been calling them up in the middle of the night, after midnight, hysterical screaming and crying, saying, “I did not kill JonBenét, I did not kill JonBenét.’”

At the time, the pageant moms did not view Simons as a suspect, so they were “totally mystified,” according to the writer.

“They had never seen him behave this way before,” Singular says. “They just sort of began telling us the same story, which we found very curious.”

Detectives in Boulder, Colorado, questioned Simons but eventually ruled him out as a suspect after determining that his DNA was not a match in the Ramsey case.

However, in October 1998, the shutterbug was arrested for walking naked down a residential street. His behavior only became more bizarre in the months that followed — and he was arrested again in July 2019 for downloading child pornography. He is now serving a prison sentence in Oregon.

“Just because Randy Simons’ DNA does not match, we don’t know who Randy Simons was associated with and hanging out with in the timeframe of … December 25, 26 of ’96,” former sheriff’s investigator John San Agustin says on the podcast. “If we can show that he’s in that area and we can show that he had an affiliation or somebody that he was aligned with that ends up matching the DNA … he would still be charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.”

JonBenét was found dead in the basement of her family’s home on December 26, 1996. Her parents, John and the late Patsy Ramsey, were later cleared by DNA results.

If you have information that could help investigators and the Ramseys identify JonBenét’s killer, please email [email protected].

Horror of all horrors… \r
So much mystery still remains about what ually happened at Dvatlov Pass, known to locals as Dead Mountain. Yes, people go missing and die on mountains – but the reasons are pretty self-explanatory. What makes this so mysterious is the way the bodies were found. The campers had cut through their tents from the inside, and bolted into the snow. Some were only wearing socks and underwear, one had tried to climb a tree, the rest were in a ditch with frured skulls and one missing a tongue. No one lives to tell the tale of what really happened.\r

Who is the Babushka Lady?\r
Its a question that has been asked many, many times over. She seems to hold so much evidence of the day President John F Kennedy was shot dead. She was right there with her camera when it happened, and oddly enough – she was on no official lists to be there, taking the images. She never came forward after the assassination, and no answer have ever come up since that fatal day in 1963.

Viewer discretion is advised. Some may find this content disturbing. This is a documentary I found interesting.

She left Alaska a few days before she turned 18, filled with dreams of freedom and traveling the country. A few months later, she would wind up abandoned and dead on a California highway.

The death of Samantha Bonnell has left her family and police with many unanswered questions, but perhaps the most puzzling one is this: Why did her luggage show up on a Hanahan carport five months after she died?

Samantha wanted to become a lawyer. She did well in school until her freshman year. Then, according to her mother, she discovered boys. "She was a pretty typical teenager really," Weir said during a recent phone interview. "What got her in trouble was her free spirit. The idea of traveling the country, the freedom of being 18, and this really fun job of being a door-to-door magazine salesman."

Bonnell left her family's home in Palmer, Alaska, just outside of Anchorage, in March 2005, a few days before her birthday. She traveled to California to be with a boyfriend. Bonnell had just started working for the company selling subscriptions when she called home for the last time in September 2005. Weir never heard from her daughter again and began a frantic search that would last 19 months.

Five months later, in February 2006, a Hanahan resident reported finding a blue suitcase and a black backpack that didn't belong to him in his carport on 1106 River Road.

"That's one of the big mysteries in this," Weir said. "We have no idea how and why her suitcase got there. I would love to hear from anybody who has any information." Greyhound Lines luggage tags bore Samantha's name and phone numbers for her mother in Alaska and her grandmother in Washington state. The bags held clothing and a picture of a black man and black woman with "Tee-n-Nate" written on the back, a police report states. An officer called Weir and she was able to file a missing persons report, something she had not been able to do until then because her daughter was 18 and considered an adult by law.

The case baffled Hanahan police. "We have no idea how it got here," Lt. Michael Fowler said of the luggage. "There's just no way of knowing. We'd love to know." Another eight months passed without answers. Fearing the luggage would be destroyed, Weir requested that Hanahan police send it to her.

When it arrived, she could identify some random contents as her daughter's: a sweater, a lone sock, and a leather backpack she gave her as a gift. Some things clearly weren't hers: a few sports jerseys, two pairs of jeans with a waist size in the upper 30s and at least a dozen sports caps.

"It was obvious that the jeans, the shirt and the hats belonged to a man," Weir said. She still didn't know what happened to her daughter. That would take another few months.

Weir felt certain something was seriously wrong after the first Christmas passed without a call or visit. "That's not a holiday Samantha would miss for any reason," she said.

In early 2006, she began searching Jane Doe sketches on the Internet. At that point, she still hoped to find her daughter alive. Though Weir's actual job was managing a tri-plex, the search consumed most of her time. She was reluctant to leave the house for fear she would miss a phone call.

In mid-March of this year, Weir was going through sketches of found remains on a missing persons Web site, www.doenetwork.org. She found one from California that haunted her, even though some details weren't right: the picture had straight hair, though Samantha's was curly; the shoe size was too big; and it didn't show Samantha's trademark freckles.

"The date is right, the area of the country is right," she thought. "What finally made me check it out was the clothing description is exactly what Samantha wore all the time."

An April 1 e-mail to an Alaska State trooper seemed to go nowhere, Weir said. Things started to come together when she contacted the San Bernardino County coroner's office herself on April 19.

Four days later Weir stepped in again when she felt Alaskan authorities weren't moving fast enough. She scanned Samantha's dental records and sent them to authorities in California. Within four hours, they had a 90 percent match, Weir said. By the next morning, they knew for sure.

Samantha had been hit by at least two cars on a busy stretch of Interstate 10 that runs through Montclair, Calif., a growing suburban area east of Los Angeles. The accident happened within a day or so of the September night when she last called home.

Her daughter had lain in a morgue as Jane Doe 17-05 until two weeks before Weir contacted the coroner's office. On April 5, authorities buried her in a county cemetery. Weir later had the remains moved to Oregon.
